Ukonrauha area, located in the easternmost part of the City, about 35 km from the city centre, is one of the most beautiful tourist areas in the Nordic countries. Nestled on the shore of Lake Saimaa, this recreational area enjoys a location of immense natural beauty, and offers a wide range of activities, restaurants and accommodation services for those on a day trip or on a longer stay. There are spectacular hiking routes in the area. Activities abound, both in the winter and summer seasons.
