The Lappeenranta Fortress has a stable for dragoon horses in the middle of the area in which the dragoons that patrol Lappeenranta’s streets in summer operate.
For many years now, the City of Lappeenranta has cooperate with the Guild of Dragoons to organise traditional equestrian activities. In summer, the uniformed dragoons can be seen on a daily basis patrolling the Lappeenranta Fortress, Sandcastle, harbour area, parks and city centre area.
In addition to appearing at events, the dragoons can be seen around town 1 July–6 August Wed–Fri 2 pm–6 pm and Sat–Sun 10 am–2 pm, weather permitting. At other times, you can also admire the horses from behind the fence at the stables of the Fortress, but the stables themselves are closed to the public.
