Activities for groups

The Harbour and the Fortress area

At the historic fortress and lively harbor, you can enjoy art, music, history, and shopping independently or with the group.

the Fortress offers visitors plenty of historical attractions and events, year after year. The Fortress is a popular tourist destination and home of the South Karelia Museum, the Lappeenranta Art Museum and the Cavalry Museum. You will also find the oldest Orthodox Church in Finland, here. The Church, consecrated to the Virgin Mary, dates from 1785. The Majurska House is a great place to pop in for a cup of coffee and to admire the work of local artisans.

The beautiful Harbour area in Lappeenranta begins at the Shore Park (Rantapuisto), also known as the Kasino Park and continues all the way to the largest sandcastle in Finland and the Myllysaari area. The magnificent boardwalk runs along the City Bay to the Harbour. In the summer, the Harbour Square offers local specialities, such as vety and atomi meat pies that you can feast on while enjoying live music and admiring the views of Lake Saimaa. We also recommend groups visit the Fazer Shop, which opened in June of 2024 right next to the Lappeenranta Sandcastle.
